PC running slowly? Fix with ccleaner (XP & Vista)

Try the following to speed up your PC by removing temporary files that slowly accumulate and clutter up your system:

Download and setup:
  • download ccleaner from the following website:
  • save the file to your PC when prompted
  • double click the downloaded file to run the setup program, select next and agree to the license
  • then click 'Start' go to 'all programs' and select ccleaner to run it.
Running the program:
  • 'Cleaner' will allready be selected on the left, click on 'Run Cleaner' at the bottom right to start removing temporary files.
  • Note: this will remove your internet history and some saved passwords. If you do not want these removed then untick 'history' and 'cookies' options under Internet explorer.
  • Then select 'Registry' on the left hand side and click 'Scan for Issues'
  • When it has completed the scan click 'Fix Selected Issues...' and when prompted to backup the registry either select 'No' or you can select 'Yes' and save it in the default location.
